  • 2012 SSSFHOA Annual Picnic

    2012-08-05 SSSFHOA Annual Picnic
These August 5th Picnic notices were inserted in the HOA June  HOA Newsletter envelopes.
The July 28th Picnic notices shown below were placed in mailboxes on Friday, July 27th.

    • MA has illegally allocated $800 for this event. Not a common area maintenance, tax, or development expense.
    • The SSSFHOA 2012 Budget provides $500 for this event.  So what does $1,300 for this picnic really provide to the property owners?
    • Participants required to donate food though SSSFHOA budget includes funds for this annual expense.
From 7/27/2012 mailbox flyer: “Grills will be ready and hot for you to grill whatever you would like to bring….Please bring any adult beverages you would like and a side dish (last names A-M) or dessert (last names N-Z) to share.”
    • Alcoholic beverages served and consumed in view by young children.
    • Rented bounce house trampolines or bubble foam ball pits have been found to contain viruses and dangerous germs transmittal among users.
    • Children using bounce houses may suffer from low intensity concussions, bent fingers, scratches, bruising, eye injuries. The Board is opening up the HOA property owners to injury liabilities. A bounce house trampoline or “Mosh Pit” injury and injuries sustained in a foam or plastic ball house are on the rise. A bounce house is a large inflatable bubble that is full of connected inflatables and/or trampolines or a pit or a combination of obstacle courses and slides, etc. “There is a popularity of these types of facilities, but they can be very dangerous for children because some are not adequately designed, managed, supervised or maintained. Many children suffer serious injuries such as broken limbs, deep lacerations, traumatic brain injury, closed head injury, neck injury, back injury, spinal cord injury and more when using any one of an assortment of bounce house. Many personal injury law firms or courts do not consider trampoline and bounce house injuries as a viable claim due to the waiver of liability the injured person or their guardian or contracting entity have signed.”
    • The Park has been scalped. Ambiance lost. Shade trees and shrubs removed or severely pruned to facilitate easier work for MAHOA manager’s Green Leaf maintenance crew; the bare condition of the Park was initiated when lake front owner Les Carrell requested a view across the lake of the park lawn open space.
    • Bring your own seating. Very limited accommodation for seating, four tables, usually covered by serving plates, condiments, paper goods, barbecue items, etc.

    • 2012-07-28 One day notice of change of picnic date
These 4X5 change-of-date and change-of -time notices were placed in owner mailboxes the day prior to the event.

” My dad never let us jump in those when we were growing up. He worked as an EMT and saw to many people seriously injured because of it. He had two cases where people died because of it. My friend broke his spinal chord in one of those mosh pit bounce houses. He is lucky to be walking.” — Rain dancer

“As bounce houses become more popular, there will naturally be more accidents. On top of that, the industry will invite more “illegal” operators. A lot of accidents are caused by improper set ups by companies without proper training and many of these companies are uninsured. This is a simple business to start up (especially if you do it illegally, i.e. not paying taxes, insurance, following regulations, etc.) and it will attract those looking to make a quick buck.” — Mike B.
