Celebration of Women Day
The Park City Council declared September 26, 2009 the first Celebration of Women Day.
A Women’s Craft Fair and Health Exp will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church at 4595 N. Silver Springs Drive.
The declared resolution states that our area is “blessed with many talented and gifted women” and they “make a vital contribution to the health, welfare and quality of life in the community.” Our local women are artists, athletes, authors, entrepreneurs, involved mothers, community leaders, and advocates for good, etc.
The Rev. Dr. Cheryl Popple, the leader of the Women’s Center for Spirituality, which is involved in the celebration said “It’s a tremendous affirmation of what women are doing.” “This is a unique event,” Popple said, “in that it brings together women for a single day event who are working in so many ways to make our community a better place to live. It is a celebration.” Everyone is welcome to attend, and there will be activities for children as well.
Individual women are invited to be vendors for the craft fair. Women groups are invited to participate in raising funds for their faith communities, for their not-for-profits agencies, and for health and fitness activities. Women health care professionals are invited to be available to answer health related questions. Women athletes are being invited to participate as well. In addition, the group is gathering 1,000 cans of soup to be distributed to the Park City food pantries at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Christian Center.
